Xero - Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

Xero - Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

By Emily McKenna

On 1st June 2021 multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be available to all Xero users

What is MFA and why is it important?

Multi-factor Authentication (“MFA”) is an authentication method requiring users to provide multiple verification factors to gain access to accounts, applications, or other protected areas. Basically, MFA is intended to make you prove you are really you before you’re given access to information.

Web security is so important to keeping hackers and cyber thieves from accessing sensitive information.

Without a proactive security strategy, your business can be at risk. Up to 80% of data breaches can be prevented with basic actions like enabling multi-factor authentication to protect yourself and your sensitive information from attacks.

When you’ll need to set up MFA for your Xero Account

After 2 July 2021, it will be mandatory for all UK Xero customers to set up and use MFA to log in unless they’re payroll employees and those who use the Xero portal and Ask portal.

Xero has created a web page here giving you all the information you need about MFA and how to set it up for your Xero accounts.
